November 11th in Japan and the 17th in Europe and USA.

2 systems at launch, 20gb HD and 60gb HD

20gb HD version will be around £330 in the uk, with the 60GB being around £100 more.

Obviously the prices could change but the release date is apparently set

Some more info here.....

And most likely, another two years for Polyphonic to pull their finger out and release GT5

GT5 might be later, but GT4Vision will be release launch will it not?

Same size as GT4, 12 cars on each grid, fully animated pit crew, improved AI, HD graphics etc.

And if you like GT games then you might wanna look at "Tourist Trophy" out on the 26th of this month.

Its meant to be a kid of slimed down GT on bikes, same music & enhanced graphics engine with an apparently stunning physics model and all the tracks from GT4 (including the 'ring). Reason to try this?

GT5 is again rumoured to contain bikes (as originally planned for GT4)

I wasn't aware GT4 Vision was ever going to be released, I thought it was just a technology showcase.

I thought it was like GT3

That Vision was going to use the GT4 code on the new platform and GT5 would be an all new engine.

There will no doubt be a GT5 Prologue as well...

That last shot is a bit of a letdown - I can't tell the difference between that and GT4.

I think the difference will be how the moving image renders.

Remember the PS3 native output is 1080p

Thats a lot of pixels moving very quality, clarity will be the order of the day.

Also note that these are prototype shots and they appear to show a HD version of GT4 vision. ie, its the GT4 graphics engine with added resolution and game tweaks (note he's running 11th in the race?!)

Expect the full GT5 to be slightly more "real" IMHO.

1080p will only be for Blu-ray, games will likely be 720p. Besides the less expensive version doesn't have a HDMI and I'm pretty sure you can only get a maximum of 1080i over component.

Yes at last years E3 or TGS they showed 2 car models from GT5 (Evo and RX-7 I think) and they looked stunning, so I imagine GT5 will look MUCH better

EDIT: Just read that HD GT was running at 1080p but many people who have seen the footage said it looked sh*te anyway

Where did you read that the less expensive version doesnt have HDMI connection? I've looked everywhere and can't find that info (even the sony press release I've read doesnt go that deep into the tech specs). From what I have read the cheaper machine has a way small internal drive and thats the only difference.

Do you have a link to your info?

ps. I totally agree, GT5 will look far better than GT HD pictured here. I've seen the video of the GT5 cars from last year and indeed it was stunning.

It's on El reg - the cheaper one won't have HDMI or WiFi.

Makes no sense not giving it HDMI

As Mr_Yogi has said component cant reliably carry a 1080p image.

So unless there is capacity to choose the output resolution in game (which is technically feasible) then you wont be able to play GT5 in all its glory if you have the cheap box.

But then I suppose thats a model that PC games companies have been following for some time.

On that link it says:-

"Not all these features will be available in both models: the low-end box appears to lack Wi-Fi, HDMI and the card reader."

yet Sont have made no mention of this in their press releases. Might wanna wait some more before that is made gospel by sony as currently thay are saying the only difference is hard drive size

try here:

Press Release

Table on the last page - no HDMI for "cheaper version". I doubt many games will be in 1080p anyway and I expect you will get some form of AA if you play in a lower res

And as there are virtually no (or maybe none) TVs which can accept 1080p at 50 or 60Hz I wouldn't really worry
