self cancelling indicator stalk/switch?

I am always forgetting to cancel the indicators and end up driving down the road like a doddering old git (which err...I am)with indicators flashing away and my head in the clouds, has anyone found an alternative solution to the dash switch? cheers

Before I went down the 'stalks' route, I bought from the States a module which cancels the indicators after (I think) 7 secs and 20 secs, it needs a momentary switch to operate, I was going to use an elctric window switch from an Escort. It is now surplus to my needs, drop me a line if you're interested.

I've gone stalks. Just took the self cancelling mechanism off the eccort donor and bolted onto the back of the s/w boss. This gives self cancellation and centre horn push. Stalks do everytning else, lights, wipers (including wash/wipe) etc.

I have the same self canceling contraption that Graham-P is talking about,operated via buttons on the steering wheel and it works fine.Personally, I prefer buttons & switches as opposed to stalks as it makes for a more race car type of feel.

I fitted a "Universal Buzzer" from Vehicle Wiring Products which beeps in time with the indicators, reminding you to switch them off, unless you're deaf of course!

thanks for the variety of suggestions, the buzzer sounds a real simple deal, just need to remember take my ear trumpet with me when driving......

I have one of those unit's for sale. I was going to use it on my Mini but now have BMW Mini Stalks, Interested ?

I put two small buttons on the steering wheel - one for turn left and one for turn right. You can get the switchs from maplins, and a three wire cable, which looks like tepephone curly cable. Connect to the main dash switch and you can indicate without taking hands off the wheel. A loud buzzer is also a good idea!
