These shots were taken about a month or so ago at Oulton Park, on the GT festival weekend. All taken using the 20D and 70-300mm IS USM lens. All that has been done to the shots is very minimal cropping, nothing else.

The rest of the shots can be seen at - http://oliverwhittaker6200.fotopic.ne

Any feedback most welcome.
Thanks,
Oliver

Very nice shots, Oliver. I particularly like the third one down.

The one of the morgan for me, the yellow car behind nicely shows the heat haze from the side exhausts.

Only technical comment I'd add is that they all look a little bit underexposed to me, I guess it was a pretty grey day? By the way, were you the guy on the smart forum that had a yellow/black smartie which was all stickered up?

I've also found that when shooting GT cars head on with powerful headlights blazing the pic's can look a bit underexposed, particularly when it's anything less than bright sunshine! The last time I went I took a meter reading through the lens before the car came along, manually put that in the camera and then took the pic. Results for me were better than when just shooting in shutter priority, but that may be down to lens used.

I've been getting this as well, but I've actually been reading the manual for once (a great help it is too). So I took a few shots normally, and then a few shots where I pointed the camera at the track before any cars came around and then held the exposure lock button down, then took my shots. Not sure if this is the correct way of doing things but it seemed to work - a bit like pre-focusing I guess.

Manual works better for headlights

With regard to Lodge corner, get right down low where the Metal fence ends. There's a tree...

Poke your lens between the tree & fence and you'll get the arch in the background and avoid the Ambulance / vehicles that park there.

An example...

Yep, it was a pretty grey and dull day, with the odd bright spell, although i think maybe photoshop on the save for web mode has toned the colours down significantly.

Yep i am the guy that had a yellow/black smartie all stickered up.

I changed over to a roadster-coupe just over 18 months ago.
