Calling all English Mini Cooper Clubman Class Drivers!!!!!!!
Discussion
Well guys n gals you have a huge grid in the Mini Challenge but do you not get sick of letting these supercharged boys lap you, ruin the battles you are having, take the lime light with pole position and chequered flags etc..???
We have a solution north of the border.......... The Scottish Mini Cooper Cup!! When I say Scottish there is only 3 meetings at Knockhill and the rest are... Oulton Park (full circuit), Donnington, Silverstone (National), Croft and Kirkistown (Northern Ireland) All 8 rounds are double headers and to add excitement and to find the real drivers we reverse the top 8 finishers from race 1. We currently have 15 cars on our grid but we would love to build up the numbers. I don't think our spec is million miles from the one you guys run at the moment. The full championship is also televised on Motors TV and Channel 5. We have just launched the Website so bear with us on it; www.scottishminicoopercup.co.uk you will be able to see the regulations that we run to.
I currently compete in the championship and there are some very quick boys here so if you think you are up to the challenge then please get in touch with Vic Covey the series Co-Ordinator. His number in on the contacts page of the cooper cup site.
Thanks
Mark.

In respect of it being a one-make series, What are your feelings about the comments that allude to "some are more equal than others"?
As with any motor sport there are always those who will try to gain an unfair advantage by bending rules and exploiting 'grey areas'. We as a series have recognised this, and we have tried to produce a set of regs that will control as much of the variables as possible. This is to enable someone who is new to the series to be as competetive as someone in their third season. We have just controlled the suspension units including the spring ratings as there were a few people modifying the units. The cars should be as equal as we can get them. No engine mods are allowed and we all run a controlled ECU from superchips.
That's positively encouraging, since the Scottish series had earned itself a certain reputation. Best of luck with it - how are you getting on?
Mind you, even some JCC cars came out of the factory significantly more powerful than the others. It's very frustrating overtaking someone on the exit of a corner, due to higher corner speed, only for them to fly past you on the following straight, even though your right foot hasn't left the metal.
Hours of fun though, if you don't take it too seriously.

I am improving on last year and started off with a 6th and a 7th from the first two rounds, but Kirkistown was a nightmare. I qualified 9th with a poor set up and got up to 4th after 2 laps
. Then a do or die move up my inside from someone pushed me out really wide at the hairpin and I got 'hung out to dry' on the next straight losing 4 places in total
. I stayed 8th and was on pole for the next race. I got off the line great but 2 cars tangled under braking and wiped me out at the first corner
. Race over with a bit of damage. This has left me 8th in championship. I'm loving being competitive this season and I can't wait for Oulton!! We are on Motors TV on Friday 26th May Race & Rally UK for rounds 3&4 from Kirkistown.
What are you doing this year??

Sounds like you're getting on well, keep it up. I only have 4 rarely watched channels in my household, so no Motors TV for me.
No racing so far this year, as budget is non-existant as I'm focusing on business. I've done a couple of trackdays and touristenfahrt, but hoping to do the second half of the VLN season if various things fall into place.
