Hi,

i have a turbo technics converted 205 1.9
it's in the garage at the moment with a blown head gasket.

the garage just called and said that it had a large amount of water in the oil.
aparently this is unusual for just a blown head gasket on the 205 and suspected it could be something more serious.
(maybe the piston liners??)

does anyone know about this car that could offer any advice.
i'm thinking that it might not be worth the repairing

cheers,
tt205

the tt 205 uses the XU10j2TE head (xantia/406/605/xm Turbo) mated to the 1.9 alloy block from a 1.9 205 gti, it uses the 1.9 gti inlet manifold and a custom exhaust manifold (turbo technics) really the tt technics 205 is very easy to manufacture yourself and is not worth the premium they charged.
Anyways Oil in water is common for HGF, just hope the HGF failure has not damaged your alloy block or head, it could be liners dropping but this is not a huge deal and should be checked when the head gasket is being replaced anyway.
i would not worry to much my friend.

It uses the standard 1.9 head. Only difference between a standard engine that i've come across are the pistons.

that's why I asked, I am a member on 205GTi drivers! The XU10 head wasn't AFAIK even in use when the TT kit was out.

these engines are tough, and yes you will get lots of water in the oil, probably just gasket failure .depends where the gaskets gone as to how much water is dumped in the oil, even oil in the cooling system dosent mean its terminal.try to find cause of gasket failure, thermostat faulty, clogged rad, over boost etc.otherwise you,ll be going round in circles. Good luck, hope you,ve still got the swithable boost wired up.he he.
