Two weeks on and still no cable.

Its now been two weeks since my throttle cable broke,and as of yet im still no nearer to getting one.My local TVR dealer has failed to get back to me on three occasions,so im left with the suggestion of a mate who said i should pull a RAC or AA bloke over give him a drink and ask him for a lenth of cable and the different ends and try to fix it that way.Any one else with any other suggestions? Its only the cable i need and not the casing.

Have you tried ringing Power in Cov, they've normally got most stuff in

I had the cable snap on me but at the foot pedal end and ut was 1/4 mile before clackets lane service station on the M25 so I managed to roll into the sevice road and just to make things worse I was my way to Austec for pre Le Mans check up going a week later anyway I called the RAC man and he said no problems sir I will fit a temporary cable and he put his head under the bonnet and before I had a chance to stop him he had pulled the inner cable out.the reason I wantedto stop him is because the cable is routed around the master cylinder and has a 90% bend which is a b----d to re-route the cable, so if you are going to use a temp cable make sure you tie it to the old one and pull it through that way.Poor RAC man was there for 2 hours after that getting the temp cable routed.
Just to let you knoe I drone to LE Mans and back on the temp cable and I did not hang about hope that helps while you wait for a cable.

bit of piss mate, go to a bike shop & get a 2mm braided teflon coated inner brake cable (make sure it has a soldered end) thread through from the pedal & fix to throttle linkage with an adjustable nipple (from motorbike shop) & job done. The MTB cable is batter quality than the original TVR one. No more than half an hour & five quid. Mine was fine for 2 years untill i sold it.

I spoke to mate about this,this afternoon before i saw your post,and he said this is the route i should take.So its off to the bike shop tommorrow.Just out of intrest how many ft of cable do i need.?
just get one for rear brakes, they tend to be far too long. the actual cable length is not that great, think about where your feet are in relation to the throttle linkage.
Make sure you buy from a trendy mtb shop, as these guys will be obsessive about things like cables & will stock the heavy duty braided type you need. A small led torch will come in handy as you will have your head in the footwell (tis dark in there!).
I bought one that had a diffrent nipple on each end - you then cut off the one you don't need. You will need some quality pliers/cutters to get a clean cut, then make sure that you solder the end of the cable to stop it snagging as you thread it through. (just thinking, itried solder, but it wouldn't work, i used a dremel sanding drum to give a nice bullet shape to the end) or just buy a rear mtb cable with a presoldered end)
If you have removed the old broken inner cable, then just take this to the shop & they'll sort you out.
