Julian date conversion, help needed please.

I need to convert a normal date input of dd/mm/yy (in an xml file)into a julian based format of either bDDDYY or bYYDDD using a xsl conversion file to convert the xml file into a flat txt document.

Has anyone done this?

Does anyone have any ideas?
