hi guys just got a nice letter through the post this evening, apparantly got caught last week doing 73 in a 50 zone. on the A3..

as its the first time i have ever been caught speeding, just after a bit of advice on what to do next.. do i just fill in the form and sent it off? do i leave the form and make out i never got it? and also what sort of fine and points would i be looking at??

whats annoying is that i know it not a speed camera that got me cos i know where they all are, and was not pulled over my police so what was it???

any advice would be greatly welcome..

Hard luck. Try www.pepipoo.com for legal advice. IIRC 76mph or above is automatic summons territory so you should be "lucky" enough to be offered £60/3 points as a fixed penalty notice. (Don't forget however that if everyone took their case to court instead of accepting the FPN then the system would quickly collapse!)

It would have been a camera or camera van; a police vehicle would have pulled you over at the time and spoken to you. There's a notorious fixed GATSO on the A3 eastbound just before the A243 junction, not very long after the limit drops from 70 to 50. It's not yellow-backed, and that section of road is unlit so it's particularly hard to see at night. Apparently it's the most profitable camera in the country.

It's almost like they'd rather catch people speeding than slow them down, but of couse that's just silly. Thank goodness we can put put our complete confidence and trust in the partnerships. Thank goodness they care about safety more than money. Thank goodness for their integrity, honour and openness. Valiant, noble, fearless Protectors Of The Roads. Just think, the whole thing could have been set up wrong, and the partnerships could have ended up being run by parasitic, murderous scumbags. Lying, thieving, people-hating pricks of the very highest order. An alien concept I know, and long may that continue.

Sorry, bad day, and it's high time that those responsible for this policy are called to account for all the extra deaths that we've had as a result, not to mention the unbelievable amount of misery inflicted on motorists. It's appalling. I hope they rot in hell! (Not a death threat, just a fervent wish.)

Any advise?

Yes, short of stating the obvious, dont do 73 in a 50 zone.

I think you'll find that far from 'short' of 'stating the obvious' that that is precisely 'stating the obvious'.

You will have to ask yourself - was I speeding?

If Yes, NO- is there any irregularities in the Traffic Order, signing, detection device and its operation, all or any you have to come up with to fight you case before a Magistrates Court.

...or you sign as being the driver, collect a Conditional Offer pay £60 collect 3 points. Finish.

Dont sign the form and they will take you to Court.

Its called whitemail (PC wont let me state the properword).

Verily it is. Send the signed Form off (note the above comments about using someone else - very true indeed as others who have been to jail for it will testify). The significance is that the form is now evidence that you were the driver and can be used as such in a Court case is so desired. Back will come the Conditional Offer. You then can either visit the Mags Clerks Office and hand over cash D.L. or send by post.

Licence will be returned with three sticky things so endorsed.

That is awful.

At a time when our government has all but thrown the towel in at trying to defend its citizens from the evil murderers and rapists that are out there, they lock up someone who poses no threat whatsoever to anyone.

Unbelievable.

So purjury should not be a punishable offence then? this I feel sends out a strong message to anyone else considering this way of "getting off". If you cant do the time, dont do the crime.

So we lock up people who have hurt no-one and who poses no threat to anyone whatsoever, but continue to allow people who commit car-crimes on a serial basis, who continually drive without mot insurance, etc and thus are known to be 10x more likely to be involved in a collision, to walk free - but we lock up someone who told a porkie.

If we were to lock up all liars, the house of commons would be empty. We have a Prime Minister who has taken the country to war on a string of lies. His wife is a Judge, and a proven liar.

When I was last in court, succesfully defending a speeding charge, I read the charges of the other defendants, and you read long lists of the same charges over and over, then you watch them walk free from court, able to jump into a car again. I heard one literally telling his mates "what a result". These are people who are uninsurable (probably unemployable as well, but thats a different subject) but they are not going to stop driving.

And then a nurse tells a lie and she's locked up.

What a country! It is absolutely perverse!

Absolutely, the judical system is utter crap no doubt about it.

Guy last week who got bashed over the head by a woman weilding a suacepan coz he broke into her home was told behave for a few months, and you'l be OK, crap springs to mind. To many doddering old judges well past their sell by date.

As for the nurse, guess I am just a law abiding citizen who wouldnt purjer myself to escape justice, thats just me I am afraid, she did and got caught. No doubt she'l appeal and be out in a month or two.

Noooooooo

Do not sign the form - the form is bad

Goto www.pepipoo.com and learn what to do there. And DVD is both wrong and right. The form will be used as evidence that you were the driver but it IMHO illegal for the authorities to do so.

Goto pepipoo and learn your options.
