...how did the 'Porker' moniker arise? I'm curious.

As a Muslim, I can tell you I'm not happy about driving around in anything associated with pigs! May have to defect to a kosher/halal make of car!

Perhaps it's because "Porsche" and "Porker" sound similar... in an east-end type thing...

... dunno where the Porsche 917 "Pink Pig" fits into this though...?

A couple of years ago at the Goodwood festival of speed I saw a '70s Porsche race car..This was sponsored by the German meat board. As we know in Germany most restaurants have some form of "schweine" on the menu.
This particular car was bright pink & it had black outlines sectioning different parts of a pig showing rump, belly, leg etc as you may see on the wall of a traditional butchers.
maybe this has something to do with the Porker name?

A picture from a model of the car in question.

Porsche doesn't have a nickname in Germany; so I couldn't suggest a kosher one.
However the 911 are called 'Elfer' - a synthetic word for a male eleven.
