Probably posted this before....but don't care.

The bike has been "in hospital" now for about 5 weeks. I phone "the repairers" every other day to get an update, and keep getting told "we're still waiting for parts".

So, today I phone, and get a list of the parts they're waiting for.
Then, I phone Yamaha and ask how long these would take if I ordered them. 3 days I am told.
I then phone up "the repairers" and ask for their suppliers number
Phone the suppliers and they say they have no outstanding orders.
Phone "the repairers" and get told... "we'll speak to them".....

Just awaiting a response........So frustrating it's unreal. I'll await the return call till 16:00. If no news I feel like phoning the insurance company and telling them how sh!te "the repairers" are, and how from day 1 I thought they were ripping the insurance company off regarding the work needed......
I realise I won't get the bike back any faster by doing this, but it might make me feel better.

I guess the problem is that you cannot choose the garage to perform the work?

Sounds well out of order - I would definitely speak to your insurance companies customer care dept, I'd want to know if it was my insurance business.

Good luck...

The problem is its at the wrong place now. As far as I know insurance companies cannot dictate to you where you get your vehicle repaired, only "recommend" places.

problem with not using a 'recommended' repairer is that some of the work garuantees (sp?) and bike loan will not apply, so a case of what do you need and how much faith you have in a.n. other repairer.

Thing is, I had no choice in who repaired it. After I put the claim in, someone rang me immediately to arrange pick up. That was that!

When my old ZX6R got trashed by a 'failing to observe' driver while I was filtering in April 2000 I had to wait well over 2 months for the bike to be returned to me by the repairers. I actually went out and bought a new bike so I could still get to work as of course I didn't have access to a loan bike at all.

I then of course ended up owning two bike but thats another story.

We were driving through France, Andorra and Spain, and getting the boat back from Bilboa.

Do you think you're insurer would intervene and sort it out? Failing that, give you a courtesy R6 in the meantime?

Gutted for you.

As someone mentioned, I don't think they can make you take the bike to 'thier' repairer, only recommend one.

Can you not phone a Yamaha dealer & ask them how long, if you took it there tomorrow, they would take to carry out the work ? You could also then get the costs of a hire bike built into the repair cost (only a couple of quid a day anyway).

If the repairers are saying 10th June & you need if by 3rd them in my eyes you have nothing to lose anyway.

Speak to a couple of dealers, see what they say.

Well, as I;ve now seen the part on ebay, I'll get the garage to buy it from them. I'll buy it and take it round there if I have to.
