As soon as the summer arrives properly, prices will go up a bit as the demand for convertible cars increases but I wouldn't think a lot. With the price of chims comming down, I think the price of wedges will fall to keep the price gap the same.
I think the only exceptions will be the SEACs and a handful of the very good condition 420s and 450s out there.
What doesn't help is the people who sell their wedges at such reduced prices, but hey-ho - theres nothing you can do to influence this

Hmm, I contacted the chap about the red one (BIN £2.8K), and he was very reluctant to take me for a test drive in it, saying it wasn't taxed or tested.
I even offered to pay for an MOT test (Pre-booked) so that I could go along with him for the ride.....then I suddenly stopped getting emails from him..
The short of it is Good cars will always find buyers, and poor cars will struggle, both on price, and speed of sale. I waited and found a good one, for a resonable price, with a good history. It's been (touch wood, cross everything) the best toy I've ever had.
Logging off now, as I need to go and play under the Tinsley viaduct (not quite as good as a tunnel, but longer than any tunnel in S Yorks!)

No one will sell a car if they're like that towards prospective buyers! I remember this wedge as I was tempted to go and have a look myself before I found mine and that was a while ago now. He'd be much better off getting it MOT'd and taxed and then selling it. Buying a wedge without an MOT is a bit of worry, you could end up spending a grand just to get in on the road and then it will need a tune up, etc.
No.1....checkout chassis, still very difficult on someone's driveway. You're not going to spot many cracks. I allowed for cost of body off on the 280, but luckily, according to Richard Thorpe, the chassis was very good.
Then there's only a few mechanical bits (most of which are easy enough to get hold of) and lots and lots of mouldy old wires. The rest at least you can see.
I'd be more concerned buying a normal rustbucket classic, with its never-ending creeping orange stains.

I tell you something - all these wedges going for pittence is doing absoloute carnage to the wedge market - (summer of no summer!!), especially as I'm trying to sell my re-prayed full MOT'd minter!, It looks like I'm just going to to scrape £4500. just 12 months ago, I would have been looking at £5300+ easy.
(I know that one I was interested in went for £5300 in July 2005 - & it was no where near the condition mine's in - & that was just 10 months ago!)

I know the Chrimera's & Griffiths's coming down will affect the wedge market - but
a drop of £1000 - £1500 in just 8 months - even for the minters is very worrying!!

I've just had my Air con on my car re-gassed at a Garage in Swindon, they have a red Tasmin 280i in there, as mine is TVR, I went and had a look at it while I was waiting, they asked me if I was interested in buying 'Make us an offer, its been here 6 months and we need the space'.
