Hmmm. Sticky box.
Discussion
Greetings all. Ive recently noticed that when 'making progress' and changing from 2nd to 3rd, the box has started to baulk quite badly and sometimes needs another declutch to engage 3rd gear. When changing up from lower revs / around town etc the change is as smooth and precise as ever
.
Ive got a 99 Chim 500 so have the T5 box. Any suggestions?

It could be baulking from either a worn box,or a worn clutch. If its just a sticky change(different thing in my book)Then it would be a good idea to lubricate the change mechanism. My first tvr was a chim, which suffered from a sticky change, particularly when hot.The dealer i bought it from just lubricated the change mechanism apparently,it certainly solved the problem as the change became silky smooth sfterwards

Try changing the oil as well , just done that on my other car with T9 box big difference even though the oil was clear (red ). Also molyslip is fantastic and would recommend it strongly . It certainly helps the change when the oil is cold .
