Oil leaks, radiator death and tyres - wallet has heartattack

So having had my Cerb for a couple of months I finally got it into my dealers to let them check out an oil leak I'd seen on the floor. Turns out that 3 oil hoses are perished and leaking - as TVR have no stock they're going to be made to order by a local hydraulic hose place.
Apparently there's also some oil weeping from the place where the timing cover / head gasket meets which is a bit scary but hopefully something that can be lived with for a bit.... I've not seen any other evidence of head gasket failure so I've got fingers crossed. Is it common to have 'oil weeping' from these joints????
In typically thorough fashion they also found that my radiator is shot and has been leaking coolant from the top. So its new radiator time.
And they also found A NAIL IN MY REAR TYRE!!! Was thinking of getting new tyres anyway but I guess now it's more drastic. Anyone know the current good price of a set of TOYO's on 18" spiders?

Just bought two front tyres for mine from Leighs Tyres on ebay, proper TVR spec toyos at £75 each plus a tenner postage, arived the next day. Rears are a tenner more but if you buy 4 tyres the postage is free, very very impressed!

That's pefectly acceptable. I expect to pay about £30 a hose if metal fittings are re-useable. You will have the cost of fitting too!

Specialist radiators repairers have equipment to re-core a radiator.
Cheaper than new.

From what I understand, the TVR spec Proxies T1-S is no longer available generaly, you have to have the T1-R now. I belive the TVR spec Toyos have different side wall stiffness because of TVRs comparative light weight?

Yeah, I'm getting a recore. It's also cheaper on the labour to do the hoses when the radiator is off - makes the job easier apparently.

I got 4 Toyos from Leigh Tyres for £320. Arrived next day too. I had them fitted locally for £30.
I almost bought 8 at that price, it cost me more for 2 tyres on the Beemer !
They are very thorough at this garage, if you know what I mean and will replace anything that is even the slightest bit damaged or frayed etc. I'd tend to be on the cautionary side unless the problems are really causing you that much hassle. If money is no object then get the work done, but I have had a small leak in the top of my radiator for near on a year now and as I haven't wanted to spend the money (better things to spend it on) I've just kept my eye on the water and topped it up every couple of weeks or so without any ill efects. As for the hoses, have you tried TVR power and TVR parts etc. I had a little problem with my cam caps a while ago and TVR were saying that they didn't have any and that I'd have to get one machined. A couple of phone calls round the indies and hey presto they had a varied selection on offer. Give Andy a ring at APM to see what he thinks about the hoses. If he agrees with the dealer then you can pretty much guarantee that this is the only option.

Yeah I know what you mean about their thoroughness. I used to use them for my Chim - I think they think all their sportscar customers have £million wallets!
About the hoses they basically said that 2 were leaking slightly from where they join the engine whilst the 3rd one was perished and should be replaced. And if replacing 1, why not do all 3 and get it over with? which I think is fair enough.
I'm trying to get some work done on warranty but I guess that all depends on how tight the warranty company are feeling...

Be a bit careful with the tyres, and check with local tyre fitters first, as to how much they charge for fitting. I just bought 2 tyres on line, seemed a good price at the time, but £7.50 a tyre P&P added a bit to the price, but still, seeemed a good price. Then I started ringing around to get them fitted...."Sorry Sir, we only fit tyres that we have sold". This was repeated to me at all the major places, and I eventually found an independent that would do it for me at £17.50 per tyre ! The fitter told me that a lot of comanies have wised up to people buying tyres off the net, so refuse to fit them. In the end it would actually have been cheaper to have bought them off him !!

any online place thats worth its salt such as mytyres and blackcircles.com have so called partners which they have a deal with to ensure this doesnt happen. i just got 4 18" tyres fitted for 10.50 through a mytres partnership / affiliate garage.
