Can a G50 930 be used as an everday car?
Discussion
I've owned both a 964 C4 & a 964 RS. Discount the RS as a daily driver, though on smoother European roads & obviously track work it's great. C4 was good for everyday driving but was a lot more understeery. I'd say a good C4 with with the understeer dialled out and not quite RS suspension settings would be a hoot!
Still like the look of the turbo though! I'm undecided as to whether go the 930 or 965 route??

Ran it of 2 years, insurance was £350 p/a FComp, servicing between £500-£600 from JZ Machtech, but spent an extra £1k getting all the oil pipes, etc, renewed. Only needed one set of new tyres, conti sport contacts, in the entire time, which included track days! Good car though and was sad to see it go.

I run an Alfa GTV 3litre at the moment and have had a 156 GTA both about 23mpg £300 servicing a year and a bit on tyres!
How much did your 964 C4 cost to run?
I think you will find that any 911 will cost considerably more that £300 a year to run, especially a turbo. Most people seem to spend at least a grand or two getting them ship shape straight after purchase.
Even a simple 3.2 will cost about a grand a year in running costs, assumming nothing goes wrong. My last major service including MOT and new brake pads, and no real problems was £900!
C2 is about 100kg lighter than the C4, more traditional feel because of the lack of weight/diff over the front wheels. C4 is meatier in corners and grips better. both good though...make sure if it's an early car (89-91) that you make sure it's got no oil leaks or it's had an overhaul by an good independant already (normally around £2.5k!)
I drove 911 3.2's for 6 years total as everyday drivers. Great!
But you have to love driving. No power steering, stiff clutch, rock hard suspension and noise- but I love it.
Now I have a 964 turbo (965) and its too quiet for me (exhaust mods on order!) but like the improved suspension, power steering , and aircon (when it works!).
If you love raw driving, get either, but if you want modern driving comfort, get neither!
