Hi all , I am thinking of buying my first wedge but it has a 2inch crack in the bottom right corner of the screen I know they are tvr specials but would like to know the avadabilty of them and what sort of cost involved . Any advise gladly received . Richo

make sure you get windscreen cover on your insurance and your away!

Ive heard that you might have to order one but it wouldnt take long...without the insurance though, i think they are a few pounds....

and then get hold of Phil Lomas via Gandalfs link. If you get the screen covered on insurance, as Matt says it will only cost £50 or so and is NOT counted as a claim.

My mates got em on his 7, spends most of his time spitting out flies and fag ends from the cars in front.

Hi Richo.
The windscreen itself is not too much of an issue.

I am assuming the wedge in question is 1986 on a C plate, red with cream leather, no tax or MOT and needs the rear brakes and handbrake sorting? (If not, please disregard this post) If so, it might be wise to pay for an inspection or take someone who knows wedges inside out to give it the once over - I haven't seen this wedge myself but it has been up for sale for a good year or so.
Not trying to put you off, as I haven't seen this wedge but there are a number of really good wedges out there if you have the time to look.
If it is the same wedge I am thinking of, there must be a reason it is STILL for sale a year later as the price was very cheep and if it was a good'un, it'd be well gone by now.

Spot on !! not gonna chase this one not impressed with the guys attitude to my email regarding broken bonnet catch , so will have to keep hunting for a sub £5000 wedgy !!

Have faith, I missed a couple on fleabay, thought about the red one myself, but again had email issues with the guy (see cheap wedges thread) I held out and got a nice one for under £5K, just be prepared to travel a bit...and remember you might get a good one, but you'll still want to spend your wedge (sic!) making it even better....

matey, for 5k you can get a pretty good wedge at the moment! As convert says, you have to be prepared to travel as bit as they arent usually 'round the corner!' Although, you could be lucky...after all, they have to be around someones corner!

We have now managed to source screens from the OE manufacturer for:
Griffith 91-01, Chimaera 93 on, and Tuscan convertible 99 on. These all use the same screen. We have 50 of these on order at present.
The same manufacturer also makes the Cerbera screen (97 on) and we are on the case with this one as well.

The Wedge screens that we stock are made by Pilkington and we normally have at least half a dozen available.

Morning Phil, I haven't got around to cancelling my screen from the other company yet!! Still need it doing so will get my arse in gear and ring you soon

PS a load of us Welsh Wedgers were at Castle Coombe the other week, was gonna blag our way into your huge marquee and sample your vittles were you there?

I was there and came to look at the TVRs up on the bank at Tower but there didn't appear to be anyone around connected with the cars. I had a good look at the windscreens in the Wedges; not a pretty sight and very old glass too. I think that at least two of the cars had screens that must be at least 12-15 years old.

If you invade again, let me know and we will try to make provision to provide some food and drink (non alcoholic) in the marquee once the guests have grazed. We had about 200 guests on the day which is about the usual turnout for every Combe meeting.

I'll be replacing mine this year.
Dunno what brummiewedge was up to in it, but there's a couple of bullet-hole-like chips.
