yes thanks, ebay of course, a tenner for one with new cap points condenser and rotor arm, all cleaned, fitted and producing spark, just spent the last couple of days leisurely fitting a new floor, exactly as described in the technical bit on the website, slight bit of trimming from my initial template and its all in, varnished and stained approx 10 times, waiting to be glassed, its all coming together quite nicely

i was going to use alloy chequer plate, but i thought unless i rubber mount it onto the chassis it will resonate quite badly, hopefully the ply one thats there now will last for a good few years, i thought the job was much much easier than i anticipated, really pleased with the results, starting to all come together now

We fitted quarter inch checker plate on top of a good floor with only a small weak area, it certainly made car feel more solid and didn't add to noise levels. It also tidied up what is the achilles heel of the design

good idea hadn't thought of doing that(could of saved myself the work) what i did manage to do was take a good digital photo of my floor before it was fitted which i can use at work now to plasma cut a metal one, perhaps i should go for stainless!!!!!!!!.
next battle for me is building up my fuel tank, i had a box tank made and welded up, but didn't put the sender, breather or filler holes in, that way i could fit the tank up into the chassis and make sure i knew exactly where to put the holes, so the marking out and drilling begins!!!!!!!!!1

Hi

Fitted 3mm alluminium with chequer plate in footwells and rear area in mine. Underside coated with black polyurethane (hope thats spelled right!) coating rather like Tiger seal only thinner. Cant truthfully say wether this will resonate but its highly unlikely. Bonded this in place around the edges with Tiger seal and bolted through for good measure. Before undertaking this task I discussed it at length with Andy Belfield and he agreed it should make for a very sturdy alternative to the usual ply floor.

Downside is unless you can 'find' some ally sheet then its a costly job!

Cheers

We made a full size cardboard template which we have kept for future reference, have just found some 1" thick iroko, it is solid as rocks and will make a "beautiful hardwood floor". Being part of the teak family I reckon it will out last the sterling board and marine ply stuff by a long way. Time will tell but it makes sense!!!
