Vid Converting Software
Discussion
I have just posted the link to Xilisoft in the other video conversion thread....
This software is a trial version, but rather than being time limited (28 days etc) it limitis the length of clips that you can convert to under 5 minutes... which means it would be fine for your 30 second clips.

Many Thanks meeja
downloaded this software and put some 3gp files thru and the resulting videos froze after running 50-80% of their duration; the audio was normal. uninstalled the software and downloaded again and it happened again... done a search on google and there seems to be no alternative freeware (that converts properly)... is there any other free software/ a way of setting the above mentioned right?
also can anyone recommend the best software/hardware kit for converting video from analog tape via three-plug yellow/red/white RCA socket/plug (on camcorder) and USB (/3.5mm jack?)? tks

Sorry if the software is giving you problems..... I have never had any issues with it!
However, you need to wait until the file you are converting is reporting "Completed" in the progress window - It can sit at 100% for ages before saying "Completed"
Have only ever converted a couple of short-ish clips from 3gp to other formats, but have never had any problems.
As for the sotware thing.... most capture cards will come with some kind of video editing software - Personally, I would use Adobe Premiere... but that isn't cheap.
There are plenty of other editing packages available though - if you search this forum for video editing you should turn up a few recommendations.
