What clocks must I have ?
Discussion
As far as I know I legally only need to have a speedo, but are there any rules that cover calibration, type of speedo. construction and use etc ?? The reason I ask is I've just trashed the clocks on my off road bike and have replaced the speedo with a handheld GPS unit cable tied onto the handle bars. This kills two birds with one stone and actually gives me a more accurate speed reading across the range than any speedo driven off of the wheels, oh yes but it is battery powered and has backlighting switched on/off manually.
You MUST have an ODOMETER, or a means of recording the mileage. At the motor sports show at the NEC recently, I was informed by a helpful guy from Stack Instuments, that to pass SVA you need an odometer. (I was very intersted in the sexy steering wheel dash)
He also added that once the vehicle is due for a normal MOT, the driver is only required to be able to prove the mileage, and that just writing down on paper where the vehicle has been is sufficient as long as the correct total mileage can be proven and produced!
