That could have been nasty...

Got the Griff home last night and found the vacuum hose to the brake cylinder had gone brittle and started to disintegrate where it sits above the exhaust manifold.
In other words, there was no assistance to braking any more. No wonder the brakes were feeling a bit "off"

How long should I allow to replace the hose? And how much of the car do I have to take apart?

I just replaced mine the other night - the old one was a 'bit crispy' and had started to leak.

You need just over 2ft of 3/8 bore vacuum hose (I think the bit I had was 660mm long) to replace it with. It took me about 1hr to do - you have to remove the cover over the clutch master cylinder to get to the end of the hose attached to the servo, and this needs re-ealing with silicone - note that there are some screws holding it on!
I carefully cut the old hose off, using a craft knife, - as I was advised to be careful as the connector to the servo is plastic and easy to snap off!

wrapped some ali tape round mine to deflect the heat after I replaced it.
