Sacrilege anybody?

Well not really, but some might think so - a slightly uncommon use of a '73 911 RS:





Driven in the Otago Classic Rally last weekend down here in NZ by Alex Fiorio (ex- world production rally champ). went pretty well, finished 2nd classic after an Escort RS1800 BDA driven by Pasi Hagstrom (Subaru WRC test driver).

Yup I think so, his father was head of Lancia rally team before moving to Ferrari F1, and I wouldn't think theres too many different Fiorios who've managed Ferrari F1 teams.

we have a customer who uses a 73 rs for a field car for his sons (really !! was a ex race car!!!!!)

I would have said that this is exactly how a '73 RS should be used. These things are built to be used and enjoyed, and if I were the guy in the photos, I'd be having a ball.

Yep thats what it was made for, I feel sadder when I see them in the back of collections and museums slowly seizing up!

But the field car idea is sacrilege, I've got an old S which he can use if he must!

I completely agree with the comments, its being used how it should be. I was just expecting some outcry from the polishing club along the lines of "but its a rare classic, it should be protected!". You have restored my faith in Porschephilia.

I wonder why its wearing cookie cutter's, rather than the usual Fuch wheels?

I can't say I'm surprised to see it on Cookies, they are cheap as chips compared to Fuchs so having several sets with gravel tyres makes good sense. 911's do very well in historic rallying and so they should!
