Off to Cadwell next Tuesday and its my first visit. I am booked in the intermediate group as have done a few T.D's before. Any tips from you Cadwell experts out there? Riding an Aprilia Tuono, Akrapovic + power commander and 121bhp on the dyno courtesy of PDQ.

Dont flip it over the mountain, dont go too fast into hall bends straight after and be careful round the gooseneck.

Warm up your tyres! The woodland side of the circuit car be very slippery on the first couple of laps (old hairpin and barn) and most of all enjoy yourself.

Oh and carefull on the brakes coming into mansfield after the gooseneck (downhill left hander)

Enjoy!

Also, watch out for people outbraking themselves whilst turning in (i.e. coming up the left hand side of you) when you enter the tight chicane after Mansfield.

To flip it over the mountain, you would have to be a complete idiot. If you really gun it up the mountain, just get your weight forward over the bars.

Enjoy. Barn seems to have bad traction even in the summer!

Many thanks for the advice. Can't join BUPA as gave them a good thrashing a few years ago so now would be 'persona non gratis'!

That did make me giggle

Awesome circuit. For me its the Hall Bend complex & following hairpin which causes the most problems. Always seem to f@ck it up somehow.
If its wet this area can cause problems due to the overhanging trees.

Braking into park can have its moments too.

Its all good though

Ive Marshalled at Caddy a couple of dozen times, its a great circuit. Watch out at Barn its tight and slippery get it stood up b4 you squirt it and most important take care on Chris' and into the gooseneck. People loose it all the time as the drop screws up your braking big time- the most common mistake is to go in too hot.

Hairpin! jesus that corner gave me a fright. still have white knuckles Cadwell was probably not the best place to go when I had never riden in the rain and it was pissing down

loved the club circuit but the woodland bit freaked me out. narrow and slipery and nowhere to go but walls. Those BSB guys must have balls of steel.

Check your tyres & tyre pressures.

I'd recommend dropping the pressure from stock road by about 4 psi minimum if it's cold/damp.

Check your brakes/pads, adjust & lube the chain.

Remove or fold in your mirrors, take off your number plate (and put it back afterwards - I rode my bike forgetting to recenty, but was lucky to get away with it).

Check all bodywork is secure & fasteners tight.

Study the circuit guide and remember which was the corners go.

Cadwell is brilliant IMHO, but you do need to learn it steadily. Hobo did a good job when I went with him lest month, but there's so much more to learn. The new bus stop before the bottom of the mountain and after mansfield is very technical. I hated it, until I realised to take it as a more technical corner, then it's actually really nice as you can make up a lot of time into and out of it.

Most of all, try to relax on your bike, look into and through corners and build up pace steadily.

Hope you enjoy.
