Newbie Questions
Discussion
Hi all,
Had the car for a few days and am absolutely loving it!! Just a couple of quick questions as I am beginning to get a bit more stuck in to making my new TVR perfect:
1 - The passenger side window glass is loose (just the glass not the actual housing), it feels as if it is stuck on and I could just pull it off re-stick and attached it. Is this the case or is it more technical?
2 - The drivers door does not activate the interior light when open (passenger door does), any idea where best to look for a fix for this?
3 - Still having problems trying to source a new seat belt for the passengers side, can anyone help me out with this?
4 - When I turn on the side lights I get the light come on above the button but when I turn on main beam nothing comes on, how do I fix this? I presume it is a dash out job, but is that top only and if so is it a bulb behind or an LED?
5 - I have read that certain fuses going can be a common problem. Which ones do I need to carry as a back up?
6 - The passenger window does not quite close at the trailing edge when the roof is on, i.e. there is a small gap between the window and the roof. This can be closed a little if you open the door and put the window down and up again but ultimately there is still a small gap left. Any idea how I can fix this?
Cheers
Matt

In reply to point number 5, make sure that you carry a spare 100Amp alternator strip fuse (it's a different kind of fuse) for the one that is located in a little box on the chassis.
I speak from bitter experience: 90 minutes waiting between junction 28/29 of M1, only for the RAC guy to ring for a low loader which took another 60 to 90 minutes to arrive - all for the sake of a 10p fuse

2 - try checking the button that sticks out from the car sil(sp?) down bottom towards rear. May be stuck? Spray copius WD40 into it and wobble about - Same tip for squirting behind door mirrors if your door button is there (didn't check your model sorry).
6 - there is an adjusting screw below rubber half way along bottom window/door top. Someone on here might post a well shown pic, but pull back rubber to have a look. Sorry don't know which way adjusts where, but thought I'd help this thread gather some momentum!!
Edited to say profile now checked - scrap above advice as it appears you have an MX5 - might want to try a different forum

I know, I know! I will update my profile this weekend! It's just I am having too much fun to bother taking photo's!

Matt.Welcome to the TVR world. On my second Chim and you come to the conclusion that life will not be perfect but drop the roof, listen to the noise and floor that gas pedal and nothing else matters. I had a Lotus Elan M100 (that was pretty similar to your former MX5) that did everything well but compared to the Chim was desperately dull. Sort what you can and enjoy the summer! Ian
PS : sorting the wind noise with the hood up needs a lot of juggling. I have got mine better but even after two Chims I cannot eliminate it!
