PlayStation 2 - Quick Question................

I've got a PS2 in the UK, rather than have the hassle of shipping it out here, i just want to buy a new one until the PS3 comes out. Is the PS2 able to read multi-region DVD's??

I can't find anything that says so.

Help.

Afraid not, not without some form of mod-chip.

edit: although you can buy something called a dvd region x that you put in, this then fools the PS2 into thinking it's multi region, then you pop a dvd in from another region, only bummer about this is that you have to do it everytime you want to watch a dvd, but it's cheaper than getting it modded.
