Quick question - are sports exhausts legal?

Not strictly true, but a bit of a grey area. Even with the Single Vehicle Approval system that TVRs pass through, they would be illegal if the cars were supplied from the factory - they would get through SVA for starters. However as an "aftermarket" modification they are allowed within the bounds of decency - IE as I understand it, yes Plod could pull you up on it if he felt like it, but has nothing on the statute book to say he should....

Passes MOT so is not a problem for me and neighbours don't complain.

Slap the cat back on one of the banks for testing at MOT time, drive sensibly around town, and you most probably wont get pulled.

I drive past the police station popping and banging (as I slow down for the junction opposite) every single day! When they see a TVR they associate the noise with the marque, imho.

You would certanily get pulled sooner or later if you were seen driving a nova kicking out the same db reading on a meter. Nothing to worry about imho. It all boils down to the officer's attitude and your own driving on the day.

I currently have sports exhaust fitted, which is pretty loud & I havent had a single complaint from my neighbours, so I've decided to go for a decat to see if that works!

After the decat, you can always remove the baffles if she aint loud enough for ya

And if that hasnt done the job, knock on their front door and tell them they're a bunch of cs. That should do it

My neighbour complained about the noise mine make... So I sorted it, shes moving!

Usually park mine nose facing outwards having reversed onto my driveway, however other day I had done the opposite. Anyway later on started up and left to idle for a bit, suddenly alarm of neighbour's car who lives opposite me goes off. Got a look as she came out to check on her car but nothing said, I however could scarcely contain my glee. Do park back the other way now with exhausts onto garage door.

i put de-cat pipes on mine the other day at a cost of £100 had them on a day just keeps setting off car alarms everywere i go, its to much trouble will have to sell them .one day old any one want them for £65 . will be putting them on ebay

multistorey car parks take on a whole new dimension...car alarms and bewildered people

Never actually parked in one but been in just for the hell of it!!

Dont sell the de-cat pipes, buy a sports exhaust
