Collect my 997S on Tuesday - What "freebies" can I expect?

After a 4 month wait I finally collect my dream car next Tuesday. The only "discount" the dealer has given me so far was to throw in £187 of fitted carpets.
I have dropped him an email suggesting some free Porsche merchandise (all over priced stuff in the catalogue). I suggested the £55 black leather loop key ring; a pen and an umbrella.
What have other new owners managed to squeeze from their local OPC's?
I feel hw owes me something after the rotten trade-in price he gave me for my mint Lotus 111S...

Ask for a crested mug. Worth nearly £8 and makes the coffee at home taste better. (But don't dishwash as the crest becomes washed out).

when i bought my car i asked if there could be any negotiation on price? they said i could pay more if i wanted! don't expect anything, my salesman asked me if i wanted mats, i agreed, and then charged me about £100 for an item i thought he may have been throwin' in. then i'm only a scumbag boxster owner, the bottom of the food chain, the wart on the bottom of society, as some, make that the majority of the people on this site seem to think. GET A GRIP ON REALITY YOU PR@TS. your heads are stuck so far up your 911 backsides you havn't a clue about anything, about watching their loved ones die of diseases you a clue about! GET A GRIP WE ALL DRIVE PORSCHES, are very lucky, i've got this, i've got that, there are some people on here who need to get a reality check, and realise how lucky WE all are...i could buy a 911 tomorrow, get to 60 1.2 secs faster... wow, i think my car is great i get a buzz each time i drive it, that'll do for me. i pity you lot, if the general public knew what you lot thought of them in their sub £35,000 cars.....i just don't know...the way you carry on.. on here i hope none of you have ordinary friends...with ordinary jobs... if you do then......i don't know..keep yourselves together and have a nice life.....!

You wrote what I wanted to write - but in moment of total insanity I tried to respond with some humour for a change - usually its me jumping off the VERY deep end.
It seems to me there are a few distinct types of Porsche driver/owner -
Trophy Owners/Collectors/P*nis Enlargement Kit Purchasers/Royal Family Wannabe
Professional Polishers
Enthusiasts
Drivers
Probably more - I will leave it to you to add to the list - but I cannot be bothered.

you sir appear to have the problem with boxster chip on shoulder syndrome.
like you i could buy either, but went for the 911 as it has rear seats for my kids plus was what i always wanted to own one day as a child.
to answer the original question I didnt manage any discount on the car but did get some of the scale models for the kids thrown in - helped as they were with me.

Geez ease up a bit folks ....the bloke only asked a simple question. And an understandable one for someone who's spent the thick end of £80k on their dream car.
How about helping out with some advice or if you don't know what an OPC might offer a 997 purchaser just move on with your evening.

someone who is capable of spending £80k on a car should also be capable of sorting out the deal at the outset - they shouldnt expect freebies - life doesnt work like that - there are no freebies - except scale models of course 8-)

Maybe what UKNOGBAD was trying to ask was how the OPC might treat him when he picks up his new car. I think OPC's should think about what the customer wants/expects. I have only owned one Porsche and when I collected it from Reading OPC I was given plenty of time, made to feel special and given a decent cup of coffee with a pastry! It was fine, but I think the experience could have been made better, without it costing the dealer a "lot" of his margin. I think the salesman should weigh up the customer and what that customer expects. A seasoned Porsche owner collecting his 12th 911 probably wants/expects something different to me or UKNOGBAD. The something doesn't have to be merchandise. It may just be the service.

I assume he'll be hoping you return for servicing, warranty work and your next car, so he has a vested interest in keeping you happy. So...I don't see why he won't view any little requests you have favourably.

Im passionate about all cars , all types of cars ,i have no chip on my shoulder about sub £35000 cars . In fact if i could fit into a Caymen (6"4 19 stone ) i think i would save money and have one of those instead of a 911.
I m sure there are people on this forum who are stuck up but i have to say i find PH informative with people who are keen to help others.

I answered the original post, i guess what they gave me was insignificant but it was a nice gesture by the OPC. The fact they bought the car back off me 9 months and 6k miles later for 95% of what I paid for it was also appreciated.
Let me guess you are either mates with Dogzz or drive a Boxster with the sad chip on shoulder complex?
If I didnt genuinely need a 2+2 I would probably buy a boxster as its 95% of the car for 60% of the price. I dont know of any 911 owners that look down their nose, but plenty of Boxster owners who seem uptight...
