Thanks for reply sam , just wondered if you might know off any other raffos around as have only seen a couple of belvas , and what made you buy , frustrated as have had the car six years now and still not driven her,do they handle as they say ? . As no original build plans with car need to pluck up more courage before tackling this one, but now making slow progress, was the original steering rack alfa as need to replace track rod ens and are the uprights vauxhall viva, any info would be appreciated, thanks mark..
I know of one other car, located in the West Midlands. E-mail me via my profile and I'll give you contact details for the owner. Mine was sold to a chap from Holland, so I'm assuming that it's no longer in the country. I believe that only a dozen or so Tipo 12's were built, so they will be pretty thin on the ground!
Bought mine because it was different, reasonably cheap, seemed well designed (the chassis, anyway!) and had a good reputation for handling.
Front uprights are Vauxhall Viva, yes. To be honest, I can't remember what the rack was off, but I'll find out for you when I get chance - I have several magazine articles on the car, but they are in storage at my other house, so might be a week or two before I get chance to dig them out.
Yes, they meet their reputation for handling...mine was one of the best handling cars I've owned. Slightly underpowered by modern standards, though, as it isn't particularly light.
