I know, we have all been there and worn the teashirt but in despair I phoned Steve Howard yesterday when it did it again and said WTF do I do about this.

He said, have a two litre coke bottle of water in the boot and tip it over the off side rear of the mainifold and Bob's your uncle.

Blimey it worked, mind you I had to go in the pub to get some water and it seemed rude not to have a pint while I was there.

If this is old news then hit me with your best shot.

Good idea but are you in danger of causing something to crack with the extremes of the temperature variations caused?

Why not just fit the Hot start Mod relay. for a few quid it cures this problem without
potentially damaging the engine.

I didn't think of that but Steve has been offering this advice for years apparantly, he told me that the commonist place for it to happen is in the petrol station and tipping a watering can in this area cools the outer case of the starter motor and the windings enough for them to work again, it worked for me.

It probably will work as a quick fix, but I would certainly be concerned about temperature differentials and the possibility of stress cracks if this was done on a regular basis. For a few quid and 10 - 15 mins of fitting the mod-wise kit would seem a neater solution.

Hi Ed

I would be interested to learn how the modwise upgrade works and an appoximate cost for this unit if you can help?

Thanks
Rob

Have fitted the modwise kit, instructions could have been better, but haven't had a problem with starting since!

dunno about the water bit, but going for a pint to let it all cool down anyway sounds a great idea .. pint of lemonade though .no drinking and driving of course
