Parking Ticket Loophole?

Is registering your car in your child's name the secret to a life of illegal parking?

You are of course aware that the registered keeper of a vehicle is liable to prosecution in the event that the driver of that vehicle is not disclosed after the vehicle is Gatso'd. He heh!

Waheeyyy! Godd on him. If he needs legal help then I'll do it for nowt. Nice to see that the little guy can f**K over the gestapo every now and then. This place gets more like communist China every day, what with cameras, fuel tax etc. Cheered me up no end......

So how's he going to stop his kid getting a court summons for her 18th (or whatever) birthday present then? Cheers Dad!

I own the car my father uses (VW Golf), and he's insured it in his name, as the main/only driver with me as the registered keeper. I had no problems insuring it.

If the offense is comitted when the girl is a minor, can she really be prosecuted for it as an adult when she reaches 18? Doensn't sound right to me.

I don't think most insurance companies check the age of the registered owner - I have just insured a car which is actually registered to my wife, and didn't get asked anything like that. I very much doubt if any action could be taken about a traffic offence committed by a minor without thier knowledge. I think I will get some friends with legal contacts to look into this. If it's as easy as this then my 2 year old daughter is about to recieve 4 cars as an early inheritence

I think taxing the car might be the main problem, you need to show insurance for the car and it will be in a different name. Unless you share the same name of course! I suppose the courts could endorse your minors licence before he/she as one, like they do for joyriders. Is failing to declare the driver endorseable?

The courts really can do nothing to under 10's, If she was between 10 & 16 then an endorsement might be an option before she gets a license.
