Nearly bought a Tam today. Went for a test drive and the a/c was pushing cold air through the vents directed at you (IYSWIM) and the screen vents were blasting hot air. Is that right? BTW took a while to make up my mind and someone else popped in and bought the yellow Tam from the TVR Centre. Anyone on here?

Hey ho, still looking!

Major design fault IMHO
Hot air ONLY from screen & footwell vent. Cold air (air con) only from mid position vent (& only 1), what would be the right hand side mid vent is taken by the mirror controls - on a soft top WTF...

But I still love it

It's not too bad if you close the windscreen vents.

IMO more of a problem is not being able to get hot air from the middle vents when the roof is off, and it is cold.

It's an easily forgivable car, though....

Air con works fine if the roof is on/windows closed. On mine at least one footwell vent also pumped cooled air on the driver's side (not very strongly though).

My 2005 vents work like this:

Two screen vents - not connected to the air con and blow whatever temperature is set (but not air conditioned air)
Driver side dash vent - Connected to the air con only, doesn't blow heated air
Driver side footwell vent - not connected to the air con and blow whatever temperature is set (but not air conditioned air)
Passenger side dash vent - not connected to the air con and blow whatever temperature is set (but not air conditioned air)
Passenger under dash vent - Connected to the air con only, doesn't blow heated air
Passenger footwell vent - not connected to the air con and blow whatever temperature is set (but not air conditioned air)

I agree this is a major design flaw in the climate control system. All vents should be connected to both heat and air con to work properly. However, I'm suprised at how effective the two air con vents are when the hood is up and the other vents closed.

The whole blower system is way too over complicated and doesn't make a lot of sense, and is prone to failure due to it’s complexity, as both me and Fly Boy have discovered. I have absolutely no idea why it is so complicated, I would have thought that getting cold/warm air through all of the vents wouldn’t be rocket science! There are more electronic bits for this system than any other system in the car, and when it goes wrong, £500 is a good starting ball park figure to repair it! (and that's without aircon! )

The Passenger side dash vent IS connected to the air-con and you can use the glove box as a mini-fridge!

Thanks for the explanations of the a/c. One thing that puzzles me. Is the a/c controlled independently of the normal air? So hot through the non-ac vents and cold throught the ac vents is possible?

The Hot air can be stopped circulating without shutting the vents. There are some factory settings that you can change for the angle? of opening (via the LCD display) Sorry I can't remember the full story - but I search on here will turn it up.

Whenever I restart the car I still have to put the heat setting to max - wait for 20 secs then reset to cold - then no air from feet or screen vents and only cold from the facia vents

Sounds like each Tamora may be different? I only know about my Tamora (2005 summer build) and the passenger side dash vent is NOT connected to the aircon. Only the passenger under dash vent is connect to the air con and is the one that turns the glove box into a mini-fridge.

Is this the 'Flap Setting'?

Sounds like £2000 to add 70Kg to the weight of the car
