oil pressure guage

My oil pressure gauge has started reading 90 psi with the ignition turned on (engine not running)
I have removed the electrical connection from the oil pressure sensor, this causes the gauge to register zero.
I think the problem is a faulty oil pressure sensor where is the best place to buy a new sensor?

I am sure most of the specialists stock them. Mine came from David Gerald and arrived the day after ordering. I cannot remember how much it was ( but could look it up if you wanted ) which probably means it was cheap!!

Did this solve your problem after replacement? Mine is registering 60 ignition on engine off; and sticks at a certain figure when running, but will flicker up to the max when throttle is blipped.

Does cleaning contacts sometimes help? If so, where are they and where is this oil pressure sensor? Thanks

I got to the sender by jacking up the front and removing the O/S wheel. It was a little fiddly, but did not take too long. I cannot think of the best way of describing the location as it was a while ago, and I am not at home now, so I cannot pop out to the garage to check.
In the case of my Griff, the gauge was reading very ( scarily ) low with the engine running, but everything else was normal, so I was very pleased it was a sender problem rather than the engine.
I have had a sender fail on another car ( non TVR ) that had the exact symptoms you describe ( reading high with the ignition on and the engine off ).

Yes it helps a lot, it does get mucky. It is next to the oil filter on the serpentine. Mine had the disconcerting habit of dropping to zero when reved over 3k. Tightens the bowles nicely the first time it happened.
