What is this pipe?

Car arrived back from the body shop today after having a complete respray mmmm nice n shiney!! (see new profile pic)

Noticed a very small petrol leak at rear end under the car further investigation proved it to be the pipe connection out of the fuel pump,my guess is that it was disturbed while car was placed on stands for the paint job.

However and heres my question,where the pipe from the tank comes through the grommet from the boot to the pump there is also another pipe which on mine is not fitted to anything and just sits above my pump with the open end unattached! what is it and should it be connected somewhere?

same prob to me. had mine respraied these weeks and the fuel consumption is massive. may be that i´m just not used to that since had the griff out for only some days know since winter. but it smells a little bit to much from fuel, especially immediataly after starting the grummblemachine.

There should be a drain pipe from the gutter round the boot lid, could this be what you're seeing?

That pipe is the overflow from the filling pipe.Should be about 18" long out of the GRP
It should be cable tied to the chassis rails.
It comes down behind the tank and out to the area you described

It's the tank breather. As anthonyj says, it comes down from the filler neck, but via a valve which shuts off if the car turns over. I've stuck a cheap in line fuel filter on the end of my pipe to stop crap going in.

Do some griffs have these then?I cant see a drain hole in my boot gutter,it does need one though!

Its probably the breather from the fuel tank,I once overfilled my tank(ie right up the filler neck to the top OOOPPS).Then I noticed liquid running from under the rear of the Griff,it was fuel and it was coming out of the pipe in the position you mentioned.Hope this helps
