When I got my Chim 3 years ago it used to kick my kidneys out through my rib cage every time I touched the loud pedal. Now it seems to have lost the kick. I know part of it is because I'm getting used to it, but I'm wondering if somethings getting old and needs fixing.

Am I right in saying it could be the cam wearing? How much does it cost to replace such a thing? How do I find out?

Could be the cam - I bacame aware mine was not pulling as strongly as before. It was still running sweetly, just not able to ripple the tarmac like when I first got her.

A rolling road session told me what I needed to know. Result? 220bhp down from 268bhp

So, put her into Fernhursts, and £1100 later, all is right back on-song, and the kidneys are hurting once again.

My advice is get her on a RR!

I had it on Charlies road a year ago and it was putting out 215, so I imagine its less than that now. Sounds the same as yours - runs fine, just not as fast.
Guess I'll have to get teh boys at Racing Green to have a look, unless there's a way to tell that won't cost?

The problems come when uv not had the car for long (like me) and you dont know what it should be like I have a R5GTT aswell with 228bhp and im sure its quicker than my 4.3 Chim! But the chim sounds so much nicer so im not really bothered!

You may first consider checking all the ignition components. mine suffered a gradual power loss despite running apparently fine. Turned out to be a weak spark, caused either by the plug shrouds or leads starting to give up. Replaced both and it was back on form. On the other hand could well be the cam.
