When servicing the Chimaera 4 ltr , when are the service intervals ? I understand that there are 6K and 12K mile service intervals or a specific time period which ever comes first . Is this 6 monthly or yearly?

And also which are the pricey service interval to look for when buy one?

Cheers

Service intervals are every 6K or 12months, whichever occurs sooner.

WRT 12K service, the 6K service is performed as an alternate minor and major service, eg Jan 02 - minor, Jan 03 - major, Jan 04 - minor.

Dealer costs are about £400 for min, £800 major (rouge estimates)

Are rouge estimates a reddy-brown sort of colour?

So where is the best place to get it serviced in the midlands, dealer or specialist?

Although I am hopeing to use Joolz's services in the near future due to his excellent rep and it's closer than my previous grease monkeys, I can recomend my previous service boys, Colin Blower Motorsport/Hinckley Autotune in surprising, Hinckley

, I'm not going to name and shame, but those are near enough a certain main TVR dealers price.

Agreed though, go to Joolz or any other independant for a more wallet friendly price. Of course this depends on your desire for the legendary dealer stamp!!

Nigel,

I've not used then yet (use Guglielmi Motorsport in Daventry) but Moore is a great deal closer. They race in the Tasmin challenge don't they.

Nick, generally if you go independant you can probably get a minor service down to about £160 dependant on consumable costs.

That's the one, I think he looks after 6 cars in the Tasmin Challenge and they come first in the summer months, but he will still service through that time, but you need to book in advance. He charged me £25 an hour labour, plus parts and VAT and did a great job.

Major service down South with a dealer is about £800, or that's what I was recently quoted for a 24,000 service. Then add on some new engine mounts if you let them (they seem to go as soon as the car is up on ramps at a dealer ), god knows what else for ancillaries and it soons creeps up.

In my case I shall be taking the Griff back to the factory for the service next time I'm in Blackpool. Their price? £560. Oh, and the factory don't leave jubilee clips chafing the fan belt either. (sorry, still call them "fan" belts)

It's cheaper (and better) oop north!
