As the title suggests! Just trying to get an idea if it's an TADTS before I give Gatwick TVR a call

Did a quick search and didn't come up with much - it's only started happening since I picked the car up from its initial 1000 mile inspection last Tuesday. Before then it was fine - I would start it with a tiny smidge of throttle and it would idle around 850rpm. Now, after reading about starting, I turn it over with no throttle until it fires but it will either try to idle at about 400rpm (digital doesn't even register, reading 0rpm) or fail and stall. Have tried holding it at 2000rpm for a short amount of time and letting drop down but no luck. Also starting with a smidge of throttle seems to make no difference at all. As soon as I'm 2 minutes down the road it's fine (though it idles at about 650rpm which I thought was quite low) and starting from warm is fine, as is general performance

Any ideas?

TIA

This exact same thing has just happened to my T350. It only started happening when I got it back from my 18,000 mile service, but the conditions are identical to what you are describing. I'm taking mine back to the dealer tomorrow - and will let you know what I find out

Same thing happened to mine after 12k service. Took it back, but to be honest it's no different.

I've just learned to live with it now. It's fine after a couple of mins.

Moonlighting from the Tuscan forum
My S6 engine starts first turn of the key with light throttle and immediately ticks over evenly at around 1000 rpm. When warm, it ticks over at 850/900. Some people thought this was too high but when it was been adjusted down to 600 rpm when warm, it became very lumpy so went back to 850 and it has been fine ever since.
Guess you also have to take into account accuracy (or not) of digital rev counter.

There're a lot of people out there with this problem. I spent years with my Tamora only ever starting with a bit of throttle and then not idling until it'd been driven for a few hundred yards. That was when the idle was down at around 650rpm.
Now it's around 950rpm it starts on the key alone and doesn't cut out. Only drawback is that idling at the higher rpm is a lot noisier!

I had the same problem a while ago before the 6000 mile service and the dealer fixed it with no fuss.

Yep same here came back from service, would idle at 450rpm or stall, it`s because the tappetts have been adjusted, i adjusted the idle my self, took 2 minutes, took the exact engine speed from one of the set up menus on the dash, adjust when cold as the speed 6 engine appears to be one of the few engines that increases it`s rpm when hot

Had this with my Tuscan.Always used to run rough and cut out ( usually opposite the Warmer Castle when everyone was outside ). Then second time starting it would run just fine.Always happened running up to a service and came back fine-I put it down to needing a tune-up.

What's involved to do this ?
Mine has the same idling behaviour.

On top of the fuel rail, approx number 3 cylinder there is a small allen screw and a 6 to 8 mm lock nut (can`t remember the size)undo the lock nut and turn the allen screw, you will hear the engine rise in rpm, only turn approx a quarter of a turn from memory, have a helper sit in the car and liaise with them to get the required rpm, i set mine at 750 cold, when warm this raise`s to 900, which i find just right for me.

Had the same with the tuscan, i guess the idle changes as the engine gets hot because the small allen screw gets hot and holds the throttle butterflies open a smigen more (like adjusting the screw)
