Paintwork Repairs

I've picked up quite a few minor chips, scratches/lost lacquer over the years and then one of my neighbours kindly encouraged me to get things sorted out by putting a proper scratch on it (they did kindly let me know - which helps put your faith back in people). The finish on the car is a very dark pearlescent blue which looks fantastic but is hard to keep clean and shows up any defects badly.

I'd be interestetd in peoples experience of repairs to pearlescent finishes and also in any recommendations to good paintshops who know the cars. I'm in SW London but happy to make a trip out South or West to someone good.
