Versuvius 993

Just spotted a nice low mileage 993 S on Autotrader which is Versuvius.

Isn't that the same colour as Nervy's old 996? A pretty rare colour methinks, especially on a 993.

It must be a very very late car as I am pretty sure they did't have versuvius in 1997 ? I am pretty sure it is 996 colour

Mine in metalic black and july 97 and I am pretty sure it wasn't an option then

Or is it just someone assuming metalic black is versuvious or it could be the s is a late one i.e. 98 ?

It was a special colour for the 2S and came as standard with black, I think, 17" wheels.

Vesuvious was a colour option on the C2S (1997) some came with Grey wing mirrors and split rear grille - some didn't.

I think its always been a special order colour - may be a trifle difficult to match if required?

Versuvius was the 993 c2s launch colour and available as a special request throughout the life of the model as far as i know. It was available again for y2k series 996. On the 993 there were also various changes to the trim, as well as the steel grey wing mirrors etc. There are a few about, although i've only ever seen one on the road, mine. I'm biased but it was my first choice colour and looks fantastic. Price-wise i've never lost money on a 993, i've driven a 911 for 20 years and my current c2s is my third, they're the best bet for driving, running costs and residuals. Don't think the 997 looks as good, i'll stick to air-cooled, the problem is finding decent ones.

I had a 1998 996 C2 in Vesuvius. Had a prang (well a Transit drove into me) so had some new paint & they (Porsche approved bodyshop) matched the colour perfectly.

I think its a great colour in a world of grey/silver/black 911's
