I've sold my car. I no longer own a Porsche. Don't feel too bad for me though, as I collect a Golf GTi (the funky new 200bhp one) on Friday, and the plan is to get a 993 (or an early 70s 2.4 if I can find a garage to rent) in the autumn. So this isn't so much a goodbye as a see you soon. I'll be back, and I'll have lots of air-cooled questions.

The new Golf is a nice car, but it's no 997... Best of luck with your air cooled hunt later in the year.

Geez it must suck to write the words 'I no longer own a Porsche'. I suggest you take the rational approach to your grief and drink heavily

Mind if I ask why you sold the 997? Clearly the GTi / 993 equation will be a lovely combo but I'm interested to know why you felt this was preferable to the 997. Could be purely financial (he says entering into a conversation with himself) but maybe there were other reasons?

It could indeed. Moving house in the very near future, so something 997-shaped had to go.

Sounds like you're plans are already underfoot. Nice choice of 911s, would love a 2.4S when I eventually move out of the big smoke and find somewhere with enough garage space..

I can sympathise. I sold my 911 last October due to business cashflow issue. The plan was to be 911-less for a year or two while replenishing the coffers, and just make do with the family saloon. Got so depressed over the next few months (by lack of 911, not business!) that I couldn't help myself and bought another in March. "911-endowed" again. Didn't have spare cash, just had to 'find' the money!!! Best wishes during your withdrawal symptoms
