OK, Paul, what do you make of it?
Conditions equal?

Different Stig
Slightly different track conditions
Apparently "unuseable" on the road
Compares to a 3R not an M400
Same price

Brilliant engine, looks really fun, the new stig is faster than the old IMO.

fantastic engine, great looks and steering wheel on the wrong side. Epic car but I'd still rather keep the M12

Intersting the 550 comparison. Why the £100k difference?

Well, for a start it was put together by Luigi and Parlo, hand stiched by Fracesco, and test driven by Bertorelli.

The Corvette on the other hand was put together by robots designed by a bloke called Frank and test driven by Willard Reginald Dwight the Third...

Need I go on?

"........so wouldn't it be a great thing to see the M15 take up the challenge?"

is the answer I was looking for. Go on Lee let the stig loose in the M15 mule.

....when he had only half a dozen practice laps, one timed lap, and he fecked that one up. Hmmm...

Martin.

PS - how many millions of dollars R&D has the Vette had spent on it?

There was an article in Road and Track - SPEED (sub mag).

They had to quit running the 3R due to heat soak after a couple laps - not really enough for someone to get used to the unique handling of the noble. He even said he wasnt used to the turbos kicking in, and made it hard to modulate the throttle (which is true, but manageable with experience). It was a 400hp version.

Guy had the car bone stock with no heat management, let alone a blow-off valve (!!!??). Granted, its more fair to compare stock to stock, but there are a few minor things that could have been done (ie, more laptime, heat etc) to make it more realistic. With that said, #s are #s. Vette is a bargain beast. I'd still probably never own one. I would however throw that LS7 engine into an Ultima GTR!

I think if it were an M400 with Corsas, stiffer suspension, and a BOV, it would have came out on top.

Did it?

C6 Z06: 1:22.4 sec
Noble M400 (in Ford GT40 vs Noble M400, Episode #140, 12/19/2004): 1:22.2 sec

Plus, remember, the Stig screwed up the 2nd to last corner and got very sideways.

On the flip side, the Z06 was shod with absolutely HORRID run-flat tires, while the M400 had DOT-R semi-slicks (Pirelli P-Zero Corsa Motorsport).

I don't think thats on the fastest lap table, that was lifted from a comparison with the GT40? The official time for the Noble on the fastest lap table is a 1:23? and its not an M400.

Which is why Top Gear and Lee ought to get the M15 mule out there!
