What it 'should' have and what are best can be two different things! The std TVR stat is 82oC,but the RV8 experts advise 76oC to lessen the chance of block cracking.Scince i found this out i now run a 76oC stat.Make sure you get one with the correct larger orifice though.

My 94 Grif 500 has a 82 degree large bore thermostat. Cost about £10 including a gasket from a TVR dealer, yours should be the same. They also sell a 74 degree stat for hotter climates...

I phoned David Gerald yesterday to get a thermostat with the larger opening but he is out of stock and has them on back order from TVR. Have not had chance yet to try any other dealers. Anyone know of any dealer who has them in stock. Thanks Terence

Thanks for the advice folks. I have a new 82 degree stat (bought from V8 racing) which I think is a standard rover one. However it looks like a standard rather than large orifice type. I will have a look for a performance Renault one see how it compares. I believe mine is stuck partially open as the engine takes quite a while to warm up, the top hose starts to get warm soon after starting and the engine runs cool in very cold weather and hot in warm weather. Sorry for hyjacking this thread.

Racing Green TVR have them in stock ... well, I bought one from them on monday! I've bought RR/LR stats from motor factors etc and they don't look the same as the ones supplied by TVR ...
