OK Barcardi and Simpo I know you can help! Someone asked for a film of noisy exhaust so cobbled together and edited (badly) the footage. Struggled with transitions though (Premier Pro) what format do I save it in to upload to PH and how do I reduce Size as it is 1min 30 secs and many, many MB's! (Canon XL1S Not sure if that helps)
i had similar issues.
the ones on pistonhead.tv are either windows media or Mpeg.
I tried saving in a number of different formats until i came up with one of the above the was as small as i could get with the lowest level of quality i was prepared to live with. That's the one i put a link to in the memorial run thread (11Mb).
I have uploaded a better version video to pistonheads.tv today, waiting for it to be reviewed - but thats big (85Mb)

I'm a little rusty on the editing at the mo' but should be back up to speed in about two weeks time... having just ordered FinalCut Studio for the mac. I haven't used Premiere since about version 4, which I imagine is about 4 or 5 versions ago, it's no longer supported on the mac.
I used to use a standalone compressor called Cleaner, there is a link to a Windows version here, with a free 30 day trial. It does one of the best jobs but you should be able to export your clip from within Premiere.
I'm not familiar with Premiere Pro but all these editors have the same tools. Somewhere, where you render or export you composition, you should be able to set the resolution and compression. 320x240 for web will be fine. Not sure what formats you can select but there should be a bunch, various flavours of mpeg, cinepak; not sure if you can export to WMP form Premiere, some people like it but I don't care for it myself. IIRC I believe Soerenson is one of the best. If you really need to get files smaller you can drop the frame rate to 15 FPS and cut the bit rate of the audio, you can also make it mono. You'll have to hunt in the menus and dialogue boxes for these options. There should be a whole bunch of pre-sets, you'll have to experiment.
