You keep the registration docs (V5) as long as you own the car. All the SORN means is that you don't have to paythe swinging daylight robbery car tax if it's off the road. Mine doesn't run out untill September or October so I'm not sure if they send you a reminder or not...I know they do if you have a cherished plate on retention though. HTH.
