Worn cam :censored:
Discussion
Had some problems with the 400 last month. Changed the distributorcap and rotor but that didn't work, especially because the weights came lose and destroyed the inside of the distributor . That's sorted now and the car didn't run very well at low revs but became a beast in higher revs. After checking the ECU, the rocker cover was removed and we could see the tappet on the first cylinder did near to nothing, conclusion: a worn cam...
It has done 45k and after some searching on here it doesn't seem to be far out of the normal wear for a fast road cam.
So the plan is to take the engine out, replace the cam, timing chain, headgasket, check the clutch, etc. and make it a fresh engine again. The mecanic who is going to sort it is a landrover specialist and he recommands a 4.3 landrover cam instead of a 218, does anybody have any experience with a 4.3 standard LR cam in a wedge??

I run a Kent 214 in my 4.3, and this is what TVR built the 4.3's with. It works very well in my car, but difficult to say in isolation what it's effects are because of all the other mods. It idles fine, and runs to over 6K if I want to. I think the 218 is less aggresive, but what cam did the 400's come with?
And importantly, will it be fixed for Zolder??

Don't know what cam is fitted at the moment we will see when we open her up. Unfortunately the 400 will not be ready for zolder and that's a pitty cause i really looked forward to improving my laptimes this year!! Going to get my old Alfa through the MOT and do a few laps with it, that's a lot a fun too!
We've already started preparations for the 25th meeting and hope it will be as good or maybe even better than the other years. See you in a few weeks!

Give V8D a call...
I would if i didn't live in the Netherlands. Getting parts or service is more difficult for us. Maybe i should move to England![]()
You should have given it to Hans D. He stopped by to see me a few days ago on his way back from another buying trip.
