Warranty and servicing

Probably beeen asked before! But I can't find the definitive answer

Getting a little fed up with dealer servicing costs and it seems that independants can offer as good, or better, service at a considerable saving.

I intend renewing the extended Porsche warranty but have a few concerns relating to using the warranty if my car is serviced out of the dealer network...

*Can I renew the warranty before it expires without having it inspected by an OPC (always had the warranty issued during a service in the past)

* In the event of making a claim, would a service by an independant make the claim more difficult? I've already had a new engine. God forbid it happens again, I would hate to have problems because a non-authorised agent has serviced the car!

*IIRC several owners use independants for servicing and claim that if approved parts are used warranty claims shouldn't be a problem. How would Porsche know that correct parts had been used.
I just see that as a "get out" for Porsche.

2001 Boxster S 25k miles. Due it's 4 year service, a year late I know, but OPC said it was OK to delay due to the new engine and carried out a minor service instead.

Newbie question. If I buy a 996 which is under warranty and wish to extend the warranty before the initial term expires, do I have to have another 111-point check?

...as long as you renew the warranty BEFORE the old one expires, there is no need for another 111 point check.
