Thatcham cat2 imobiliser

Hi all

Just finally getting round to replacing my old knackered non cat imobiliser with something abit more modern. So far have disabled starter and ignition, but want to go for the fuel as well.

Where is the best place to disable the fuel, presumably somewhere near the fuse box. Does the fuel pump have a relay or fuse controlling it ?

A fuse. In fact I have a switch on a wire that plugs into that fuse - used as a crude immobiliser a while back.

im a thatcham aproved alarm installer and if it was my car i would fit it to the ecu if you fit it just to the fuel pump wire all you have to do is take a live from the back lights say the side light putthe other side to the pumps live connection turn side lights on and u have fuel if you fit it to the ecu it makes it harder for them
make of cat 2?
i would req a laser line cat 2 because if you then wish to put a alarm at a latter time the alarm can be programed up to control the cat 2 by the alarm remote

It's my intention to try and use a point near the ecu / fuse area as I did not want to run a wire back to the pump.

Make is a Falcon Predator Mk2 which was cheap and cheerful and will hopefully fullfill the insurance needs, as I've not needed one for the last 4 years never bothered to fix the old one when if failed on me - must have taken out about a mile of wire and all sorts of sensors and flashing lights

Should really fit one of the tracker systems that I install in it, but too lazy to do work like stuff after work

Not that bothered about upgrading to a fully fitted all singing / dancing alarm although a widger to unlock doors remotely would be a bonus

Mine had remote locking when I got it but it was fuackered, got a kit off ebay for a ford KA. complete thing £30, 2 hours later fitted and working easy job unlocks doors flashes inds and is compatable with alarm imob thingys.

Mine has remote locking too (fitted by brummiewedge before I bought it).

Just thinking... if you were to wire the boot solenoid to a permanent live feed, AND you had a 2 channel remote for the central locking, then the spare channel could be used to open the boot...???

Seem to remember reading you can use the wire that goes to the aerial for this.

My car has no electric aerial (and anyway I never listen to the radio) so I reconfigured the loom such that the blue wire that would normally be used by the radio to trigger the aerial, is instead wired to +12v permanent and used to feed the boot solenoid. It also feeds the boot lights because they only normally come on when the sidelights are on (useful ). Since you can now remotely open the boot it would seem like a good idea to be able to see what you're doing. Fit a plunger switch to trip the car alarm and use it (like a cabin courtesy light switch) to put the boot lamps on when you open the boot.
