tickover again

Hi, I have controlled my wierd tickover by restricting the bypass airflow to the stepper, using a 15mm inline ballcock (plumbing!). This can be adjusted so max revs the stepper can induce are 1500 when warm, this sounds a lot better than 2000 odd.

Has anyone who has this on a precat actually solved the issue, if so how? My stepper is new and definitely working, the idle returns straight to 1000 when the car is brought to a halt but will sit at 1500 rpm (now) when the car is hot and rolling. So the ECU definitely wants the tickover to be high when rolling.

Nic, my precat does the same , when rolling to a stop the tickover stays above 1000.

I believe the speedo pulse goes to the ECU and the ECU lifts the revs, not sure why .

My Chimaera is a 2001 and has the same symptoms.
