Roll bar rather than cage, blue book Q60

Have any of you explored the possibility of adding a bolt in diagonal to the factory roll bar so it looks like Q60 in the blue book ? It seems the scruts may be happy with this provide you sit low enough to draw a line over your helmet to a structural bit at the front of the car.

If they are getting that piccy, they shouldn't accept the factory roll bar as it doesn't meet any of the recommended methods of attaching the bar to the chassis. Tis better than nothing but I wouldn't want to increase any loading on it. It is a cosmetic only design.

What championship/ class is asking for this? Are you competing in a road legal trim? That may get you some exemptions.

Will be a bit careful here because don’t want to throw any more fuel on the fire than there is already. Suffice to say I have been running road legal for several years, and suddenly the goal posts have changed, has affected quite a few others as well. I am arranging a cage but it can’t be done for a while so trying to find something that will be acceptable for two sprints.

Which regs are you falling foul of - blue book, or a specific championship?

Factory bar is a joke and no no regs. Get it done properly - I use Gartrac, for my cage stuff and general car straightening, mods.

Not sure where you are but there is a place in Kidderminster (Worcestershire) that may be able to help with a rollcage for you.
They are a rally car specialist and build vehicles from the ground up either fitting fully welded in cages or bolts in ones.

I thought the blue book states that only MSA certified companies can instal & carry out Roll Bar/Cage work?
If this is correct the factory fitment would not comply.
