Interior league table ?

I've seen a nice looking basalt black 996 in auto-trader but it has grey interior - is this a no-no or a good look for the contrast. I was originally thinking of black interior as the safe bet but there are loads of Metropole Blue / Savannah around too....

Are any interior colours a bad choice for re-sale ? I've heard that Savannah is the work of the devil...

I think the red and savannah are the ones to avoid. even though I like them both. Bit OTT with the red steering wheel too.

I have just bought one with dark grey and there is also a light grey which is my least favorite.

Get the interior colour you like for goodness sake.

Thinking about re-sale even before you have even bought the car seems a bit daft to me. And the same applies when speccing a car from new (e.g. when I specced mine wasn't interested in satnav so didn't put it in even though everyone bangs on about how it impacts residuals).

If it means the car is cheaper it also means the price now will be cheaper. If you like buy it. The car is for you not for the person you might sell it to in a couple of years.

In a Porsche black is the only one to go with - largely because it ages far better than the others. Grey, blue and Savannah might look OK when new (though not in my eyes!) but if you look at a 5 year old car the interior will look far more worn than a black one.

Likewise - standard leather wears far better than soft ruffled leather.

I agree. In any car, Black or very dark colour leather wears the best. Most of the lighter colours fade, crack and show dirt a lot more and will require more care/maintenance.

Fulham911 - agree about worrying about re-sale is a little premature at the moment but just looking to get people's opinions... most of you guys seem to be pretty knowledgable and trustworthy ?

I'm not sure if it is dark or light grey and haven't seen a picture of the interior so not sure if I will like it or loathe it yet ! I've never been a big fan of grey interior but if the rest of the car is spot on then maybe I can learn to love it - I'm just used to black leather from my last 2 cars !

I might go and have a sniff around an OPC this weekend and see if they have any grey interiors in there.

I'm starting to get an itchy trigger finger to buy my first 911 !!

Must stay calm and keep a clear head.... ( repeat until I believe it )

What is your budget?

Budget is about the £25k mark and there seems to be quite a selection but I realise that I need to be not too picky about colour / spec and I will be getting an independant check before I buy.

No major rush to buy - so I am busy gathering more info and stalking a few possibles in the classifieds....

The right car is out there, just need to be patient.

Phib - That grey interior doesn't look too bad, I reckon I could live with that. Sadly not looking for a Cab. Looks like a nice example - couldn't be yours by any chance.....??

My feeling is black leather is obviously the safe option. I like the red interiors but understand a lot of folks will think them too pimpy. I swing back and forward in liking the blue. Marble grey is nice but classic grey is anything but - like an old loafer colour as someone on here once offered. Savanagh is the nastiest for me - has the hue of calf scour to my mind, and that's not nice...;-)

I should add that all my cars have had black interiors except for my AMV8 which came with iron ore - dark red - interior (with Meteorite Silver exterior - a gorgeous dark grey). I originally ordered black (don't ask what happened there!) but with hindsight I really enjoyed the iron ore interior, however I think that an Aston carries it off far better than a Porsche would.

Paul - that leather looked in stunning condition !!

I saw a metropole blue leather interior 996 yesterday and that colour of interior was fine - very dark and not obviously blue.

Bit of a dog of a car though !! The interior was scuffed up and stank of fags, the 'stick-on' privacy glass was peeling off, and the little centre compartment was broken and wouldn't shut..... didn't even need to test drive it - definately an unloved car ! Thought it was a bit steep at £26,000 but had only done 69k miles - Seem to be the old case of 'buy on condition, not mileage' - Henry speaks the truth !!
