windows media center

I use it.
I have a "Media Centre PC" (looks like a DVD player) under the TV. I connect the TV using a VGA cable for best picture. I have also plugged it into my stereo (don't do surround sound - yet).
It manages my entire music collection very well - no need to dust off CDs anymore.
It records hundreds (300 or so) hours of TV - does all that "point and click" and "series link" stuff so youi never miss a recording.
It is *mostly* reliable. But Sky+ has been more reliable for me.
Its great for sharing Digital Pictures with the family - just like having 35mm Slides and a Slide projector again!
It all works off the remote - and very well - although I also have a "remote" keyboard and use that if I want to use programs outside of Media Centre.
If you just have the software - you will need to configure up a fairly unique sort of PC to use it...

Great with the right hardware.
Definately an expanding market, digital content is readily available and complimentary products which make them a truly all in one entertainment solutions are starting to hit the marketplace. Got one of these coming soon www.simplifidigital.com which looks very interesting.
The Linux community have an alternative called MythTV which is similar feature functionality, little more flexible if you know what you are doing.
