Getting the train up to Preston tomorrow morn and hopefully my newly purchased Chimaera will be waiting for me! I'm taking the owner back home and then have a long and probably very wet drive home to Guildford. I've just looked at the weather report. It kinda sucks. I was really hoping for a lovely sunny drive back.

I guess i'll take it real easy.

For your info its a Pearl Blue 2001 Y reg 450 on 24000 miles. It's just had a 6000 mile service which included two replacement rear bushes, an oil and air filter (isn't that included anyway?) and all new brake pads and disks all round!!

I'm praying that it won't leak as it will be on the driveway on Sat eve and Sunday, and Leven with their trusted covers will be closed until Monday!

I can't wait

Just remember: a rainy day in a TVR is better than a sunny day in anything else.

Enjoy! You won't be disappointed

I drove mine back in January in the rain, its was still fun. Enjoy !
Remember the handbrakes are not so good ,so leave it in gear when parked. Otherwise park it in Sainsburys and find it in Tesco.

Congratulations matey.

Yess take it easy in the wet but i drive mine most days and those big tyres and low c of g make for a very stable ride.

As the car seems to have been cared for and fully serviced may i (humbly) recommend that the first accessory that you buy is a Ride Drive course so that you and the car get the best out of each other.

I wish you, as I have had, many, many very fast safe and fun hours of driving.

Welcome to the dark side

Buy a can of fabsil from milletts. Spray the entire hood paying special attention to all the stitching next to the doors where the velcro is and round the rear screen. That solves all leakage problems for me. Do it regularly.

If the car is dry inside when you pick it up, then you'll be ok. it won't leak.
A tip, don't rush the trip back. Take it easy, stop loads of times. Half the fun is walking back to the car after you've stopped for a break and smiling

Have great fun on the drives home.
When I picked mine up it took 1 hour to get to the garage, and for some stange reason nearly 3 to get home. (no it didnt break down). I seemed to find lots of country roads on the way home and some tunnels.

Tunnels in a TVR are a little gift from above

Just got back and diverted to my parents to show them. WOW!!! Dad has just driven it and his grin is nearly as big as mine.

The car is simply awesome. I have just had the best drive ever! It is so damn fast!
I was so appehensive having owned a 450SE which was an utter nightmare, but this Chimaera is in a league apart.

I've also just read all your cool messages. Nice one guys! Very funny comments.

I have one final thing to share with you.

The M6 Toll.

Oh my god

You know the score. I got to the Toll Station and inserted my card. There were about 10 other cars that arrived roughly the same time. My view ahead was just a hugely wide expanse of smooth tarmac with not a white line in site. A white van got off first. All the lads in the GTi next to me were sorting their change. My card came back. The gate went up. I gave the Chim one blip and floored it. I simply greased it. A chirp from the rear tyres and then..... grip and.....POW...First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth. Jesus H Christ!!!

Considering I had only started driving the thing 1 hour before, my technique was perfect. I was off throught the gears, V8 howling across the toll stations. Gti boys jaws on the floor. White van was history in about 3 seconds. Unbelievable. It truly was one of those unforgettable moments. I wanted to turn around and do it again.

Fingers crossed now for reliable motoring. Looking out for the Tuscan on the Epson Road...
