I do wonder what Smolensky is thinking:

www.pistonheads.com/sales/79000.htm

I paid £39,995 for my Targa and know of at least one other PHer who paid a very similar price for his. How come the car has gone up £5k considering the contents are the same? (I know spectraflair paint costs a bit more so lets say 3-4k then).

Yes TVR are making a loss, but the margin on the new cars was never that bad. Personally I think people are paying for the 3 year warranty up front. I'll just pay £1350 a year instead :-)

The car in the ad does look lovely BTW, I like the interior combo too - none of that insipid light blue many sivler cars have inside.

That's the prob (for TVR)at the mo, a low mileage 2nd hand one, for HALF the cost of a new one, just makes so much sense - you get the exact same feeling and exhileration driving the one you bought, as you would if you bought it for £45K! It's a complete no-brainer!

The main differnence being that a second hand TVR isn't built to your exact spec. That's the main reason I bought a new Tamora so it 100% mine.

Its a problem for every maunfacturer.......not just TVR. When times are, let's say a little difficult finacially, peolpe keep what they have.

Have you noticed the massive amount of '02' plate cars on the road at the mo, there certainly arn't as many new cars on the roads, compared to the past few years - a big prob for all manufacturers, you're right.

That suggests to me that the new prices are too high. The BMW Z4M is going to priced at less than this.
